you might or you might not know, but for orthodox christians, or just people in orthodox christian countires, today is a celebration - the so-called "flower day", tsvetnitsa. and in honour of that and also of my blog that has not been updated in over a month, is today's post, featuring those lovely flower installations mark colle did for raf's last jil sander show (aw12). because, let's be reasonable - the best flowers are jil flowers!
весел празник на всички!

the things that inspire (or because that's too pretentious- make me smile) lately

milla jovovich in the fifth element. and the movie itself, it's just so cute and late '90s-like, plus it has some really rad jpg costumes. the see through neon skirt with the thong and the shaved hair was so deliciously late '90s it hurt!

i saw party monster a few days ago and you know, it sometimes irritates me- that hipster pretentiousness- but i liked it. i can enjoy the trashiness, if only for the irony of it all. i know tons of people who love chloe sevigny and feel inspired by her and honestly, i'm not one of them but again, i can enjoy her sometimes. her and mccaulay kulkin, they're this typical trashy american phenomenon and if you're not all over it all the time, it has its charm.

and mccaulay turned 30 a few days ago, can you believe it? it's so surreal.

oh i also found um úrnat frá björk- björk's handprinted booklet from 1984- which i really like, it looks so much like children's drawings (you can view the full thing here)

i lack the inspiration to post about fashion so excuse me for the numerous unrelated posts that are to come. fashion bored me right now and other that the few things i'm planing on purchasing, it doesn't really tickle my fancy right now. well anyway, here's some belarusian towels that look like bulgarian towels which i found today. it was pretty rad, if i have to be honest- what might be simply routine for british, french, japanese, etc. people is really rare for a belarusian/bulgarian, since those two countries don't exactly spell "blogger inspiration".

there's so many- too many- "artists" with "art" blogs (hoho, see what i did there with the quotes?; but honestly, i like some of them, like erithemermaid for example) nowadays and besides i like to pretend i'm oh-so elite when it comes to art but i found banshee beat a few days ago and i really like the collages she makes. in a way they feed my wanderlust and that gross love for everything and anything "ethnic" i've been talking about lately.

went to a job interview today but didn't get hired as i'm an university student and they were hiring full time only. i feel this pretty cdg blouse and the knit rosary and even the new sketchbook getting farther and farther away from me. ugh i need a job, really.

i love a blog curated by and will forever love it, and will also forever proclaim my love for it. as i love browsing through pictures (funnily, i enjoy those more than actual scans) of various books and their pages, you can imagine how happy the site makes me. well anyway, i found some illustrations done by hussein chalayan that were found on the site. and they're pretty bloody brilliant!

speaking of fashion illustrations of sorts, i was reminded of this vogue uk editorial called karl lagerfeld's secret ball (with illustrations by mr. lagerfeld himself, obviously) which featured some witty descriptions and really haute pretend-outfits (junya, tao, gareth pugh, alexander mcqueen, kamo headpieces, etc.).

there was a great feature on hair&make-up artists in the new so-en (which i'm yet to finish reading but still) which reminded me how much i love katsuya kamo's and julien d'ys' works. i should really expand my horizons when it comes to knowledge of hair&make-up artists, excluding these two gentlemen and pat mcgrath but for now i'll just leave you with some kamo pieces.

i also stumbled upon these pictures of a magazine curated by jun takahashi, i believe, in jun takahashi's pop blog:

lately i've been "craving" art in all forms possible- cheap art books, museum exhibitions of even the most obscure and unknown artists, etc. i've been really liking sam windett's art- i'm not one that's too much into complex art and, as disgusting as it may sound, i actually like modern(-istic) art with all those weird shapes, shapeless things one can't identify and/or pretty colours. true, though- sam windett's art is not the best example of "pretty colours" but still, it gives off some really nice vibes.

i found out about karishma shahani, a graduate of london college of fashion of indian descent, and her collection "yatra" ("pilgrimage" in hindi) just blows my mind. it's such an explosion of colour, of materials. not many designers' work makes me do this but her clothes make me actually think of some distant lands, of voyages beyond my imagination, of heroes and beggars, and magicians, and gods. in a way, it's almost tangible and whoah did i wax lyrical about it. but honestly, it's just breathtaking.

isn't the red bag with the trinkets just glorious? but honestly, isn't it all!
